Our aim is to produce a book within a six months timeframe. The book shall be a compilation of about 500 anonymous curriculum vitae of different people from Beijing with care to pick them in different parts of the city and of the social sphere. Three artists, a sinologist and a graphic designer will work in collaboration on this project. The portrait shown with this book will be drawn by the residents of the city. The general picture will result of the many individual characteristics of the people, a single body which members may be similar or in strong contrast to each other. The individual particularities shown in the book may repeat, connect or contradict each other. The compilation of personal memories and data will draw a historical reality that founds in the amount of the data.

In order to compare the data easily it has been gathered in a table with eight categories. The personal curriculum information are reduced to age, education, work experience, particular capacities and hobbies, in order to keep a distanced look on a person’s life. Personality and expression might not be recorded in this factual compilation. And the reader is free to imagine who is the person behind the curriculum vitae that is sketched in minimal data.
